Agreement to these terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Zonepdf Inc. ("ZonePDF", "we", "us"), an Illinois corporation. They govern your use of the zonepdf.com website, the ZonePDF desktop application, and the ZonePDF browser extension (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service

ZonePDF provides tools for working with documents — merging, compressing, splitting, converting, and related operations — as well as AI features that summarize documents and answer questions about them. The tools run in your browser; a desktop application is also available, and its software is additionally licensed under the End User License Agreement.

We work on the Service continuously and may add, change, or discontinue features. The limits of the free tier and of paid plans — such as file sizes and the number of files processed — are described on the pricing page and may change over time.

Your account

You can use many of the tools without an account. Some features and higher limits require one. When you create an account, provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, and let us know if you suspect unauthorized use — you are responsible for activity under your account. You can close your account at any time from your account settings.

Age and use in schools

To accept these Terms yourself you must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live. Younger users may use the Service only with the authorization and under the supervision of a parent, guardian, or school, as described in the Privacy Policy; where a school provides students with access, the school accepts these Terms on their behalf and is responsible for the required consents.

Your files

The documents you process with the Service are yours. You retain all rights to them, and we claim no ownership. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the Service: to receive, store, process, and return your files as required by the operations you request. Files are deleted from our servers as described in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for the content of the files you process and must have the necessary rights to them. The Service must not be used to process content that is unlawful or that infringes the rights of others.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service in violation of applicable law.
• Upload malware or content designed to harm the Service or its users.
• Probe, overload, disrupt, or circumvent the Service's security or its usage limits.
• Access the Service by automated means for scraping or bulk processing outside the features we provide, or resell it, without our written permission.

We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms.

AI features

Answers and summaries produced by the AI features are generated automatically. They can be incomplete or wrong, and they are not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Review AI output against your document before relying on it; the pages are shown alongside the answers so you can.

Plans, billing, and renewal

Paid subscriptions unlock higher limits and additional features, as described on the pricing page. Payments are processed by our payment provider; prices may change, with changes applying from your next billing cycle.

Subscription auto-renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically. By purchasing one you authorize Zonepdf Inc. to charge your payment method at the start of each billing cycle at the then-current renewal price (plus applicable taxes) until you cancel. Your subscription period begins on your purchase date. You can cancel auto-renewal at any time from your account's billing page; your plan then remains active until the end of the period already paid for and is not charged again.

Refunds

If you cancel a subscription within 14 days of purchasing it, you are eligible for a refund of that purchase. After 14 days, payments already made are non-refundable, but canceling stops all future charges. This does not limit any non-waivable rights you have under the consumer law of your country.

Intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, illustrations, and content we authored — belongs to Zonepdf Inc. or its licensors and is protected by law. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our name, logo, or branding. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the Service without obligation to you.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any file will be processed without loss — keep copies of your originals.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zonepdf Inc. will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose, or fifty US dollars if you have paid nothing. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Termination

You can stop using the Service, or close your account, at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for breach of these Terms, to comply with the law, or to protect the Service and its users. Sections that by their nature should survive — including Your files, Disclaimers, and Limitation of liability — survive termination.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we will post the new version here, update the effective date, and give notice on the Service or by email before the changes take effect. Using the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the courts located in Illinois, except where the law of your place of residence mandatorily provides otherwise.
